Valentine's Day at the theatre

Publish on in

Paris has so much to offer you for Valentine's Day! From the friendly charm of Montmartre to the beauty of the Parisian parks and gardens, including romantic attractions such as the Passerelle des Arts and the I Love You Wall, there is no shortage of places in which to celebrate your love. And for an original evening, your Hotel Volney Opéra suggests a visit to the theatre…

Legendary venues a few steps from the hotel

Your Hotel Volney Opéra boasts an excellent location in a fascinating district where the culture and nightlife are intense. A stone's throw from the Opera and Place Vendôme, wea are also less than ten minutes on foot from three theatres that are essential to the Parisian performing arts scene. The oldest, the Théâtre des Bouffes Parisiens, was founded in 1855 by the composer Jacques Offenbach. Its exquisite auditorium combining red and gold is a real showcase. Just a five-minute walk away, the Théâtre de la Michodière and its beautiful Art Deco hall has over the last 100 years established itself as the comedy hub of Paris. Finally, the Théâtre Edouard VII, named in honour of the British sovereign who was noted for his keen appreciation of French culture, offers a venue where French people can discover and enjoy Anglo-Saxon works.

Your Valentine's Day production

Laughter and tears await you on Valentine's Day. Let's start with Le Canard à l’Orange served up by the Théâtre de la Michodière. This comedy adapted from The Secretary Bird by William Douglas Home, already featured seven times at the Molières, is a pure joy. Next, the Théâtre des Bouffes Parisiens presents Un Couple Magique, a wonderful blend of magic, poetry and comedy by Laurent Ruquier. This story of a close-knit stage magic duo who must resist their disruptive agent will bring you tears of joy. Finally, at the Théâtre Edouard VII, Stéphane de Groot and Valérie Bonneton bring you an absurd tale of the eternal opposition between truth and appearances in Sébastien Thiery’s Qui est Monsieur Schmitt?

Live performance and especially the theatre have an amazing capacity to move us, amuse us and make us think. Spice up your Valentine's Day with an evening at the theatre. Your Hotel Volney Opéra team will help you to make the arrangements.
