Located between Bastille and Nation, the Atelier des Lumières digital art centre presents its new exhibitions. These showcase sensational immersive works projected continuously on the building’s walls and floors using state-of-the-art multimedia equipment. From February 28th, 2020 to January 3rd, 2021, during your Parisian break at the Hotel Volney Opéra, come and discover a breathtaking spectacle that celebrates the colours of the Mediterranean.
Journeys Around the Mediterranean
Following on from the superb retrospective dedicated to Vincent Van Gogh, the Atelier des Lumières presents its new exhibition, Journeys Around the Mediterranean, featuring the works of Monet, Renoir, Chagall, Pissarro, Matisse, Dufy, Signac and many other artistic giants. The exhibition, which pays homage to various artistic movements and trends, brings together more than 500 major works. These are stunningly presented using 140 video projectors cleverly distributed throughout a huge space of some 3,300 m2 of floor-to-ceiling surfaces and on walls 10 metres high. A surround sound system accompanies the projections with appropriate music, the whole forming a fully immersive spectacle.
Yves Klein: Infinite Blue; another ode to the Mediterranean
In parallel with this magnificent exhibition, the Atelier des Lumières invites you to discover Yves Klein; Infinite Blue, featuring a hundred works and nearly 60 archive images that come alive to Vivaldi's music and an electro soundscape by Thylacine. This fascinating immersive exhibition and experience lasting ten minutes is produced by the Cutback creation studio. It celebrates Klein, a major artist of the 20th century who wished to turn his life into a work of art. Fascinated by the Big Blue and believing that painting is colour, Klein created monochromes through which colour takes on a spiritual and metaphysical dimension. This digital exhibition, which perfectly complements Journeys Around the Mediterranean, serves to further reveal the link between artistic creativity and the Mediterranean shores.
